About Cesar

Cesar is a partner at Sustain Value Group, co-leads the Strategy practice and leads the Decarbonization and Nature practices. With over 27 years of experience, he specializes in both strategy and project implementation within the energy and sustainability sectors. Cesar empowers clients by transforming their organizations to face new challenges, evaluating projects, optimizing portfolios, and facilitating transactions.


His leadership and project experience extend across multiple industries in 12 countries, spanning the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia. Cesar’s journey began in investment banking and government transformation consulting in Mexico. He then joined Charles River Associates in Boston during 2004, managing competitive strategy projects for Fortune 500 clients in the Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, and Automotive sectors across the US, Europe, and Latin America.


Later, Cesar transferred to the Bahrain office, where he led industrial cluster development projects in the Middle East, as well as drafted business cases for their implementation. In 2008, he joined Schlumberger Business Consulting in Houston, driving organizational transformation initiatives for major Oil and Gas companies in the U.S., South America, Australia and the Caribbean.


In 2010, Cesar co-founded Bremass, a firm specializing in digital transformation, operations, and PMO implementation for the energy industry. His innovative decision-making methodologies, co-developed with clients, disrupted the way most major projects were implemented in the Mexican Oil and Gas industry. In 2017, he assumed leadership at Arthur D Little in Mexico, overseeing major organizational design and optimizing multi-billion assets and project portfolios. Cesar also led research into energy transition initiatives, including Electric Mobility and National Oil Company (NOC) transformations.


Recently, in 2022, Cesar joined Deloitte as a partner, leading Decarbonization and Nature services for Spanish Latin America. His groundbreaking projects include techno-economic assessments for hydrogen infrastructure, Nature and Biodiversity strategy, energy policy design, decarbonization path optimization using artificial intelligence, and ESG strategy development across sectors like financial services, telecom, agro industry, hospitality, utilities, and mining.


Cesar’s academic contributions include teaching Negotiation Strategy at the Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico (ITAM) from 2010 to 2016. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from ITAM, an MBA with concentrations in Finance and Strategy from the University of Rochester, New York, and a certificate in Sustainable Business from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).


His boardroom roles span Fincasa Hipotecaria, a mortgage lender, and the Mexican Chapter of the World Energy Council (WEC). Additionally, he held a seat at the Energy and Sustainability Steering Committee at the Institute of the Americas in La Jolla, California from 2023 to 2024. He is fully bilingual in English and Spanish and has professional fluency in French.
